Testing, testing....

Right now I really should be writing my "aspiration statement" for the Peace Corps, updating my resume, compiling a packing list for the next 27 months, or reading through the 90+ page handbook I was sent. Instead I'm figuring out how to start this blog.

I started my Peace Corps application back in December 2010. After months of telling people, "I'm supposed to be going somewhere in Central or South America; I'm supposed to leave by the end of October; I think I'm going to be training teachers; No, I don't know when I'll hear from the Peace Corps" I finally have an answer: I am going to be an English teacher trainer in Mozambique, and I'm leaving on September 27. I know what you're thinking, and you're right - Mozambique is in Africa, not Central or South America. But I'm just as excited! Nervous too, but I imagine that's normal.

I decided to start this blog as a kind of journal so friends and family can keep up with my adventures. Plus it's better than those long-winded emails you often get from people who are traveling- you can choose when or if you want to read this and I'll add pictures! So enjoy at your leisure.

P.S. If you're like me and don't know much about Mozambique, here's a map and a link to Wikipedia.
